30+ Easy Camping Meals (easy prep campfire cooking) The Recipe Rebel (2024)

These easy Camping Meals are perfect for on-the-go, over the fire and making ahead! Foil pack dinners, campfire meals and cast iron recipes to bring on your next camping trip!

Camping season is here and our whole family is excited!

While we’re not really into roughing it, we’re not driving around a luxury 40 foot long RV either 😉

We have a comfortable camper trailer that we love to take out and explore new campgrounds and spend some good quality family time together outdoors.

For this reason, I’ve been stocking up on all kinds of camping meals to take along with us — from campfire treats, cast iron cooking, make ahead meals and everything in between!

What are the essentials for great camping meals?

Easy: Camping is supposed to be fun, family time, and I don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking! Who does? These recipes are easy to make on the go, or they check some of my other all-important boxes down below.

Portable: No one wants to lug around a bunch of ingredients, pans and utensils. These camping meals are simple to bring along and won’t take up a lot of valuable space.

Quick prep or prep ahead: If I’m going to make something for camping that has multiple components (a homemade sauce, chopped veggies, etc.) you better believe I’m making some of it at home. If I have to have 3 or 4 pots or pans going at once when I’m camping, it’s likely not going to happen.

Not use a lot of dishes: Again, who likes doing dishes when they’re camping? I don’t cook in foil a lot, but it’s great for saving on dishes when you’re out in the middle of nowhere (and want to enjoy your time in the middle of nowhere 😉 )
